Zen Tea Traders Want to Help You Experience Your Beverage

Zen Tea Traders is located in Los Angeles, CA and was founded in 2008 by Anthony Capobianco, who took several courses to explore his passion for tea. As his dedication to expand his knowledge continues, he travels all over the world to many tea houses, sourcing traditional and unique blends.

Zen Tea Traders and the Tea Experience

Anthony has over ten years worth of experience in the tea industry, which includes sourcing, blending and cupping. With a corporate background in finance, he is also a member of Toastmasters International.

Now living the dream of turning his passion into a career, he owes his love of tea to his Grandmother. She introduced him to his first cup when he was 8 years of age, which began a life long relationship with tea and everything it encompasses.

Supporting Families, Not Shareholders

Zen Tea Traders source full leaf, hand-crafted, artisan teas from all over the globe, working with and supporting family owned tea farms, rather than shareholders.

Distributing their products to cafés, coffee bars, restaurants, hotels and spas as well as developing tea programs give the client’s guests and customers an unforgettable tea experience.

Catering to Evolving Palates

This tea company’s founder advises that just having the word “tea” on the menu doesn’t increase sales and that he often heard wholesale clients complain that people don’t order a lot of tea.

After attending many expos and having the opportunity to be a judge at the World Iced Tea Championship several years ago, he discovered and learned a lot, including:

  • There was a growing demand for flavored teas
  • Though coffee is a $40 billion a year industry, the tea industry is over $100 billion
  • Tea bars are opening up all over the U.S.

In 2013, Anthony visited many tea farms throughout Kagoshima, Japan and also met with family owned tea estates from artisan farmers in India, Taiwan and other locations.

He believes that it’s important for customers to know something about the origins of the tea they’re drinking and the people who produce it.

 Zen Tea Traders Teas

Offering fresh tea from farm to cup is only one reason to try their products, which do not sit in storage for months before they make it to the customers.

With each tea being carefully selected and tasted, they focus on catering to as many of the senses as possible, such as taste, mouth feel, aroma and appearance.

Providing a rich variety of teas, Zen Tea Traders want you to experience your beverage, rather than just drink it. This company is founded on principles such as quality, simplicity and experience so that they can offer an elevated cup of tea for all palates.

Earl Grey Tahitian Blend

A delightful blend of Tahitian vanilla, oil of bergamot and black tea, which is not your Grandmother’s regular Earl Grey.

Also including organic cornflowers, this delicious tea is bold, creamy and full-bodied, making it a nice twist on an old favorite, that can be enjoyed hot or iced – with or without milk and sweeteners.

Sun Moon Lake

This is a beautifully hand-crafted Taiwanese black tea, with surprising notes of date, bourbon and honey. A creamy blend that is also smooth and full-bodied, it’s a naturally subtle and sweet cup that is balanced and evocative of a serene night by the side of a lake.

Kung Fu Berry Rooibos

Get ready to rumble, as raspberry and strawberry battle to gain governance over your taste buds. This fruity and zesty blend also contains organic ingredients such as rose-hip, orange peel, cornflower, licorice and hibiscus in a base of rooibos, making it aromatic, sweet and refreshing.

Zen Tea Traders also provide Japanese tea pouches to use with their loose leaf varieties as well as other accessories.

They have a lovely wooden tea chest available that makes a great gift idea, including sampler tins of Holy Hojicha, Earl Grey Tahitian Blend, Blueberry White Tranquility, Herbal Sunset, Kung Fu Berry and Zencha Sencha.
